I didn't realize the ProWeather site sold replacement parts until I had the new weather station in hand or I would probably tried that. The only difference seems to be the receiver (and corresponding sending unit) I am making a big assumption that they haven't gone and refitted the scientific components so that means the only difference between the different stations is what they plug into. Reading the specs on what look to be identical stations to mine, it looks like it is one of many mass created systems that have been branded for whomever is selling them. If it seems to work with the other sensors I could just get a new sending unit. Since the sending unit was one of the things that was clobbered in the windstorm (humidity reads 99%) it would need replacing if this works. Perhaps I can use the old sending unit and receiver from the wind damaged station and put this nightmare behind me. With all this very fascinating imagining, I have forgotten to ask - where does EasyWeather.dat come from?Īnother solution I will try today, I hope. It could be all of the answers I need are hidden in forum posts and Wiki pages, if so I am sorry that I bothered folks. I think I might even link to the SQL web service running on the machine and spool the data to the web if I can manage (good ol' computer is running the Bitnami WordPress package that uses Apache server) I'm learning.

If I can't figure it out then at least I'll have learned (or refreshed) database skills long ignored. I used to love working with databases and it is so nice to have a reason to do so again. The poor thing hasn't been cleaned up since I got it new and I might need to in order to fit Access software back on it if I need it.Īsk me if I'm having fun.

To make the challenge even more fun, my weather monitoring computer is Windows XP Pro with 2.20 GHz processor and 1GB of ram. My ODBC use is rusted worse than my Access. Currently I have the table linked as an ODBC table, I haven't done anything with that yet. Reading the "last line" (or latest record) as was pointed out in another post. Finally I need to do some type of joined table that I can, hopefully, take the data out of on the fly. I'll need to look at the Params and Records tables and see which table has which fields I need. In order to even attempt to pull this off, I need to know not only the names of the fields as listed in the other post, but the format of the data (like the date for example, there are several ways to represent that) The example in the Wiki shows a combines date/time in the line of sample EasyWeather data but lists the Date and Time as separate fields in the list of fields. I have tried unsuccessfully to get it to do so. Cumulus will not speak to the TP2700WC directly according to Steve. EasyWeather mdb file has 20 fields in the Records table and 17 in the Params table. The WeatherSmart Records table has 26 fields and it has 9 fields in the Params table. My old TP1080WC will not speak to WeatherSmart and my new TP2700WC will not speak with EasyWeather.

WeatherSmart is NOT EasyWeather although the interfaces and "about" look nearly the same and they are apparently the same publisher. It sure looks like the one I'm replacing and the one I bought. Are they telling the truth? Ambient WS-2095. This one says it can use Cumulus, but I don't see it on the list. At least it gives me something to do while I think on what to do with the station. So I might figure out more if I stare at it. I did find this post,, which gives me some thinking material but it doesn't give the format required. Anyone have a real easyweather.dat file, real data or dummy, that I can look at to see how Cumulus expects to see the data? Possible, very doable, BUT - I don't know the format of an easyweather.dat file in order to create the correct fields from the. Why not convert, on the fly, the contents of the database into easyweather.dat for cumulus to read. Having worked with Access databases many years and designed some pretty radical ways to observe, share, and edit data a little light has turned on.

Snooping around I see that WeatherSmart uses an Access database to store what it is downloading. OK, I'm still mad about the ProWeatherStation TP2700WC not being compatible (and wrote them a rather sharp comment about it) Since I tend to scheme when I'm unhappy I have been exploring how the TP2700WC and WeatherSmart works (WeatherSmart seems to be a proprietary version of EasyWeather) It can export to CSV which is well and good, but it means that someone would need to make it into an easyweather.dat.
